I took an evening drawing class at Parson’s School of Design in 1980-81. Steven Meisel was the instructor, just on the cusp of his own international fame as a fashion photographer. Blair was our favorite model. She was diminutive and adorable, and had more sense of style and was more inspiring to draw than any willowy Wilhelmina model.

Meisel’s mantra? “Fuck it up!” We did, delightfully following orders.
